An evolution from Eco Gyspy to ELECTRA Universe
Founder, Electra Gillies
ELECTRA was rebranded from Eco Gypsy in 2025. Founded in Bali in 2013 as a sustainable luxury beachwear brand inspired by island life.
Born to mixed Indian & Scottish Heritage in Singapore, Electra was brought up between Asia & The UK.
Islands are the backdrop of much of her life, living in the Maldives & Indonesia. This shaped the aesthetic for a unique brand that melds style, lifestyle and travel.
Sustainability has been a passion since completing her Masters at SOAS on it's impact on development. This has moulded her approach to both fashion and travel writing.
The brand has been featured by Victoria's Secret Angels in their swim special and an exclusive collaboration with Goop.
Sustainable Luxury Island Style
ELECTRA UNIVERSE is a sustainable luxury island-style brand rooted in sensual sustainability, environmental compassion and the beauty of tropical living.
Our pieces are created from soft organic bamboo and finished with ethically harvested, CITES-certified natural shells, honouring both the materials of the earth and the coastal communities connected to them.
Each collection celebrates artisanal detail, feminine freedom and conscious design — from shell-trimmed dresses and resortwear silhouettes to pieces made with circularity in mind.
We believe luxury should feel beautiful on the body and gentle on the planet: biodegradable where possible, made to last, and designed so that bamboo can return to the earth while shells are preserved, reused and treasured.
